Startup Mode
The Startup Mode enables you to start a task based on a time schedule or triggered by an event. The following Startup Modes are available:- Once

Startup Mode | Description |
---|---|
Once | The task is run once at a specified date and time. |
Daily | The task is run every day at a specified time. |
Weekly | The task is run at a specified time on various days of the week. Additionally, you can also specify at which calendar weeks the task can be started. |
Monthly | The task is run at a specified time on various days of the month. Additionally, you can also specify at which months the task can be started. |
Interval | The task is run on various days of the week at regular intervals starting at the time specified and continuing until a specified end time. Additionally, you can also specify at which days of the week the task can be started. |
Windows Start |
This startup mode causes the task to be started when the user logs on to Windows.
Don't forget to activate the general AllSync Scheduler option Automatically start and activate AllSync Scheduler when starting Windows.
You can suspend starting the task by keeping the CTRL key pressed when starting AllSync Scheduler.
Run only once a day This option forces to run the task only once a day. Notes pertaining to AllSync Scheduler Service When using AllSync Scheduler Service the task is started when starting Windows. No user logon to Windows is required. Use the Tolerance option to specify the maximum start time of your Windows system. The task is not started unless AllSync Scheduler Service is started within the specified tolerance period. |

Link | This startup mode causes a check to be conducted to determine whether a link has been newly established to the specified data source and whether the task has been successfully started. The data source is detected anew if it wasn't yet present during the previous check. |
Monitoring |
This startup mode enables you to monitor up to two folders for changes.
The task will be started when the specified number of changes has been reached.
The following changes can be detected when monitoring the folders:
Interval The Interval property enables you to specify that a pause of a minimum length is to be adhered to upon the conclusion of a task until the task can be restarted.
Time Period between the Folder Accessible Checks When activating the scheduler the specified folders will be checked for accessibility. If a folder is not available the next check will be performed after the specified time period until the folder is accessible. Network Notes In order for a folder to be monitored in the network, the user of AllSync Scheduler must be a member of the Backup Operators group. See Computer Management – System Tools – Local Users and Groups – Groups – Backup Operators – Add to Group. Monitored Changes Here you get an overview of how many changes are registered for various file and folder actions in the monitored folder:

Scheduler Activation | With this Startup Mode the task will be started when the Scheduler becomes activated. |
Screen Saver | With this Startup Mode the task will be started after the screen saver shows up. This start type has no function if the scheduler is started as a service. Additionally, you can specify to cancel the task after the screen saver was stopped. |
System Idle | With this start type, the idle time of the currently logged-in user is determined and the task is started after a specified idle time. This start type has no function if the scheduler is started as a service. With the Interval property you can specify the idle time after which the task should be started. |
System Wake-Up | With this Startup Mode the task will be started after the computer wakes up from the Standby mode or hibernation. |
Monitor Standby | With this Startup Mode the task will be started after the monitor goes into Standby mode. |
Startup Mode - Time/Date Settings
Option | Description |
---|---|
Start Time | Time at which the task is started. |
End Time | This time specifies the end of the Interval. When you specify an end time of 00:00:00, the interval automatically ends at 12 midnight. |
Date | Date on which the task is started using the startup mode Once. |
Interval | This entry enables the interval for the startup modes Interval, Monitoring and System Idle to be specified. |
Tolerance | This enables you to specify a timeframe within which a task can still be run if the task couldn't be started at the specified start time. This is necessary, for example, when another task is to run at the start time. |
Days of the Week | Here you can specify the days of the week (Monday to Sunday) for the startup modes Weekly, Monthly and Interval. |
Months | Here you can specify the various months of the year (January to December) for the startup mode Monthly. |
Calendar Weeks | Here you can specify the various calendar weeks from 1 to 53 for the startup mode Weekly. |
Calendar Days |
Here you can specify the various days of the month from 1 to 31 and Last day of the month for the startup mode Monthly.

Profiles
Here you can specify the profiles used to start the task. The profiles can be individually deactivated by unchecking the checkboxes. TheDon't use profile chaining
option enables you to deactivate profile chaining for all profiles.
Task Start
Cancel task startup if the following folder could not be found
This option cancels the start of a task and displays a note in the log if the specified folder could not be found at start.Start task immediately when last performed more than X days ago
This option causes a task to be started immediately upon activating AllSync Scheduler if the last time the task was started precedes a specified number of days ago.Automatically remove entries from log file when they are more than ... day(s) old
With this option, every time a task is started, its log file is checked and all entries to be removed when they are older than the number of days you specified.- Please note the
Compatibility
section under the Time format option. - When deleting old log entries, a new log file is always created first and then the old log file is deleted.
User must confirm task start
This option shows up a dialog window to start or cancel the task. Additionally, you can specify a time period to close the dialog window automatically and cancel the task start.Wait this number of seconds before starting the profiles
This option enables you to specify a delay period before the copy operation of the profiles will be started.Change the window state of the scheduler
This enables you to specify the window state of the scheduler when the task will be started.Show pop-up message at the notification area of the Windows taskbar
With this option, a pop-up message is displayed in the notification area of the Windows taskbar when the task starts. The scheduler must be shown as an icon in the notification area of the Windows taskbar so that this notification is displayed.Task Running
Don't show File Conflict dialog
This option causes the File Conflict dialog not to be displayed.Show error messages in the notification area of the Windows taskbar
This displays all error messages that occur while the task is running in the notification area of the Windows taskbar.Task End
Show info message after the task has completed
This option shows up a message box after the task has completed. AllSync uses for this the system command MSG. Apparently, Windows Home editions do not have the msg.exe command installed. The command buttonTest
enables you to check the availability of the system commands.
Upon completing processing of task
This enables you to specify which action is to be performed when the processing of a task has completed:- Shut down computer
- Shut down Windows
- Restart Windows
- Log off user
- Standby
- Hibernate
- Shut down AllSync Scheduler
- Lock computer
Force Action
enables you to force the selected action.
Forcing the action could be necessary if the computer is locked.
Note: Forcing the actions 1 to 4 could result in data loss because other applications cannot save their data.
Change the window state of the scheduler
This enables you to specify the window state of the scheduler when the processing of a task has completed.Log task state at the Windows event viewer
This option enables you to log the task state at the Windows event viewer after task completion. An event with the ID 100 will be created if there were no errors during the task run; otherwise the ID 101 will be used. See Windows event viewer -> Windows Logs -> Application.Show pop-up message at the notification area of the Windows taskbar
With this option, a pop-up message is displayed in the notification area of the Windows taskbar when the task has completed. The scheduler must be shown as an icon in the notification area of the Windows taskbar so that this notification is displayed.Run Period
With this option you can define in which time period of the day the tasks may be started. The time period can be set between 00:00 and 23:59. This option overrides the run period settings in the general scheduler options.Abort a running task outside the specified run period
This option aborts a running task if it is outside the specified run period. With theComplete file copy process
suboption, you can specify that the current file copy process is completed before the task is terminated.
Don't send log to the e-mail addresses indicated in AllSync Scheduler's options
This option enables you to suspend sending the e-mail to the e-mail addresses in AllSync Scheduler's general options.Send log to these addresses
This option causes the log of all the profiles run of a task to be sent to the specified e-mail address(es). If there is more than one address, they have to be separated by a comma. No e-mails can be sent unless you make all the settings for the mail server in theE-Mail
section of AllSync Scheduler's options.
When should the e-mail be sent?
The following settings are possible:- Always
- Only when an error occurs
- Only when changes occur
- Only when errors and changes occur
- Only when an error or a change occurs
- Only if no changes have been made
E-Mail logged actions of a profile
Activating this option causes the actions logged during the copy operation to be emailed. This option doesn't have any effect unless the Log these actions during a copy operation option is activated (Profile Properties – Options – Log).Forward log of each individual profile via e-mail
